The short answer
Replace TMW, or work beside it?
Why teams look beyond TMW
The reasons that come up most, from reviews and the vendors' own materials. Not every one applies to every team.
- A platform decision. Trimble now sells a cloud-native Trimble TMS beside its existing lines. When it was unveiled in November 2025, Transport Topics reported that Trimble expected its customers to move onto it within five to ten years; in September 2026 Trimble announced agent-ready updates to TMW.Suite, TruckMate and Innovative that need no migration. Asking Trimble which path fits your product is a natural time to compare.
- Separate products. On TMW.Suite and TruckMate, fuel tax (Vusion), fuel purchase planning (ExpertFuel) and fleet maintenance (TMT) are separate Trimble products, and some teams would rather have them in one system.
- Cost. Trimble doesn't publish TMS prices, so teams comparing options ask for a quote on their own scope and set it against vendors that publish theirs.
- AI. Trimble has added its own agents: Trimble Arc Agent (August 2026) and agent-ready TMS updates with an MCP layer (September 2026). Some teams are deciding whether Trimble's agents cover the job, or whether to add a tool beside it.
The options, and who each one fits.
How to choose.
Questions to answer before you talk to any vendor, us included.
- Which Trimble product are you on? TMW.Suite, TruckMate and Innovative differ, so ask Trimble what the new Trimble TMS means for yours, and when.
- Is the problem the whole system, or one job? If it's one job, compare Trimble's own agents and tools that work beside TMW before you compare replacements.
- Are you a carrier, a broker or both? Carrier-first, broker-first and hybrid systems handle dispatch, driver pay and carrier cover differently.
- How many companies, and on which systems? Ask each vendor how separate companies keep separate books, and whether a company can join on the system it already runs.
- What will it cost at your volume? Per-user, per-load and per-job pricing come out very differently for the same business, so price your own numbers, setup fees and contract length included.
- Can you get your data out? Ask how your history is exported, and whether your TMW history stays readable after you move.
Trimble's own path
Trimble sells several TMS lines. On its product pages, TMW.Suite is for truckload carriers, brokers, 3PLs and private fleets, and TruckMate is built for LTL carriers and also covers truckload, intermodal and multimodal freight. Innovative is for mid-market truckload, flatbed, bulk and dedicated carriers and private fleets, and Fuel Dispatch is for fuel carriers. Trimble made TMW.Suite and TruckMate available as cloud-hosted subscriptions in 2019.
Trimble also sells a newer, cloud-native Trimble TMS, which it describes as built for growing North American truckload carriers. When Trimble unveiled it in November 2025, Transport Topics reported seven modules, from order acceptance to payment, each with AI agents, that customers could adopt one at a time, and that Trimble expected its customers to move onto it within five to ten years. In September 2026, Trimble announced browser-based, agent-ready updates to TMW.Suite, TruckMate, Innovative and Fuel Dispatch, delivered as updates to the software customers already run, with no platform migration. Ask Trimble which path applies to your product; if you're comparing options, it's the baseline to compare against.
Trimble also sells an add-on of its own: Trimble Arc Agent, launched on August 11, 2026, is a subscription that connects to existing TMSs and to Gmail and Outlook, and turns emails, PDFs and spreadsheets into data in the system of record.
A full replacement, or one job at a time
A replacement moves dispatch, billing, settlements and your history to a new system in one project. Working beside TMW keeps it as the system of record and changes one job at a time, so dispatch doesn't move until you choose. If your reasons for leaving are cost or training, a tool beside TMW won't fix them. If TMW works and one job takes too much typing, a replacement is a lot of project for one problem. Our switching guide shows what running beside TMW.Suite or TruckMate looks like, and the TMS comparison sets older systems against AI add-on tools. For row-by-row detail, see Roadmark vs Trimble TMW.
If you want another system outright
McLeod is the like-for-like move: another long-established vendor with separate products for carriers and brokers (Roadmark vs McLeod). Rose Rocket and Alvys are newer cloud systems with AI built in; Rose Rocket publishes a starting price and a 90-day go-live promise, and Alvys prices by load volume and is built for operations that run trucks and broker freight together (Roadmark vs Rose Rocket, Roadmark vs Alvys). Turvo fits a shipper looking for a TMS for its own freight, or a 3PL that wants warehouse scheduling and inventory on the same platform (Roadmark vs Turvo).
If you run a group of companies
Ask every vendor the same question: can each company keep its own customers, carriers and books, and can a company you buy join on the system it already runs? Alvys includes more subsidiaries on its higher plans. Roadmark keeps each company's books separate in one system and lets a company stay on TMW.Suite or TruckMate while the rest move; see Roadmark for groups.
Trimble, TMW.Suite, TruckMate, Innovative, Fuel Dispatch, TMT, Vusion, ExpertFuel, Trimble Arc Agent, McLeod Software, LoadMaster, PowerBroker, MPact.RespondAI, Rose Rocket, Alvys, Alvys Foundry, Turvo and Lineage are trademarks of their respective owners. Roadmark is not affiliated with them.

Questions about TMW alternatives
Is Trimble retiring TMW.Suite and TruckMate?
Trimble hasn't announced an end date that we found. When it unveiled its cloud-native Trimble TMS in November 2025, Transport Topics reported that Trimble expected its customers to move onto it within five to ten years, with modules adopted one at a time or all at once. In September 2026 Trimble announced browser-based, agent-ready updates to TMW.Suite, TruckMate, Innovative and Fuel Dispatch that need no platform migration. Ask Trimble what that means for your product and version.
What is the best alternative to TMW?
There isn't one for everyone. Carriers who want a like-for-like move can look at McLeod; carriers and hybrid carrier-broker operations wanting a newer cloud system can look at Rose Rocket or Alvys; shippers wanting a TMS for their own freight can look at Turvo. If TMW still works and one job is the problem, adding a tool beside it is usually the smaller change.
Can we keep TMW and still use AI?
Yes. On August 11, 2026 Trimble launched Trimble Arc Agent, a subscription that connects to existing TMSs and to Gmail and Outlook, with skills for order entry, contract intake and RFQs, and in September 2026 it announced agent-ready updates to TMW.Suite, TruckMate, Innovative and Fuel Dispatch. Separate tools can also work beside TMW: Roadmark, for example, can run quoting or tracking while booked orders still land in TMW and dispatch stays where it is.
Is there a TMW alternative without per-user fees?
Yes. Rose Rocket lists unlimited users with no per-seat fees, Alvys prices by load volume with no per-user fees, and Roadmark has no per-user fee. Price each one against your own load volume and headcount before comparing.
Is Roadmark a TMW replacement?
It can be, but you'd usually start beside TMW.Suite or TruckMate: one job, usually quoting or tracking, runs in Roadmark while orders still land there, and the rest moves when you choose, or never. Moving Roadmark in as your TMS is a longer, company-by-company rollout that you control.
